Pat Bay Air offers floatplane training in Beautiful Victoria BC -- the perfect environment for floatplane training -- offering lakes, rivers and the Pacific Ocean. Not to mention spectacular scenery. Weather patterns, and a variety of conditions and challenges allow students to gain the most experience possible in the minimum amount of time. The experience gained from training on our floatplanes in this area provides the necessary experience to confidently fly a floatplane anywhere. Endorsement Training

The endorsement takes place on the Cessna 172 aircraft. The training consists of 7 hours of flying on both salt and fresh water and including a solo flight consisting of five takeoffs and landings.

Float Endorsement:
- 7 hours x $260.00/hour = $1820.00
- 1 hour ground instruction = $30

Total Cost - $1850.00 + tax

Advanced 50 hour Course

The 50 hour course will provide you with the confidence and skills you need to fly in more varied conditions, as well as meet the minimums for some insurance companies.  We will go over all the basics of floatplane flying during the endorsement, and then move on to the more advanced techniques like flying in mountainous terrain and landing in high altitude lakes. We will also cover techniques involved in dealing with rivers, low-level navigation and confined area landings and takeoffs. We will visit coastal floatplane bases on Vancouver Island and fly deep into the Coast Mountain range. The first 25 hours will be logged as dual and second 25 hours will be logged as pilot-in-command.
