- The Float Rating
Whether you want your float endorsement for private use, or need it as part of your commercial pilot licence plans, Pat Bay Air will provide you with the best training available.
The training for the rating/endorsement follows the Transport Canada curriculum that requires 7 hours of flight time, all dual time except for 5 solo take offs and landings. A copy of the curriculum guide maybe viewed and downloaded here.
Not only will you learn from high time charter floatplane pilots, but because of the varied areas where we fly, you will encounter the actual conditions described for each of the course module, as opposed to relying on simulated conditions: There is no substitute for real glassy water, cross wind, or rough water conditions.
Upon successful completion of the 7 hour curriculum we will provide you with the paperwork necessary to have the Seaplane Endorsement added to your licence. Victoria International Airport has a local Transport Canada office where you can quickly and easily submit the form.
$2500.00 plus tax for 7 hour Seaplane Endorsement (Float Rating)
For the float rating training we use our Cessna 185 floatplane – one of the most useful and highly regarded floatplanes in service. A rugged and powerful aircraft, it has one of the highest power to weight ratios of any piston seaplane.
Training flights commence from our main location at the Pat Bay Seaplane Base (Victoria Airport). There is very little positioning from our base to where the training takes place, therefore you get the maximum use of the flight time.
